Generations Uncovered
“Generations Uncovered” is an innovative intergenerational activity that brings together people from different age groups to engage in meaningful dialogue about European identity, values, and civic participation. Through a series of dual interviews—conversations between individuals from different generations—the project explores how perspectives on Europe, citizenship, and democratic engagement have evolved over time. Younger participants share their hopes, concerns, and aspirations for Europe’s future, while older participants reflect on their experiences of European integration, historical changes, and the development of the European Union. These structured conversations create a unique opportunity for mutual learning and understanding, breaking down age-related stereotypes and fostering intergenerational solidarity. The activity recognizes that different generations bring valuable insights and experiences to discussions about Europe’s present and future.
The dual interview format serves multiple purposes: it generates rich qualitative data about how European themes resonate across different age groups, it creates meaningful personal connections between participants, and it produces compelling narratives that can be shared with wider audiences to inspire others. The interviews are conducted in local settings across the partner countries, ensuring that the activity is accessible and relevant to diverse communities. The stories and insights gathered through these interviews are documented and shared through various media formats, amplifying the voices of participants and demonstrating the diversity of European perspectives. By highlighting the contributions and wisdom of both younger and older generations, “Generations Uncovered” promotes a more inclusive vision of European citizenship that values intergenerational dialogue and recognizes that building a stronger Europe requires the engagement and understanding of people at all stages of life.
